As you see by the ingredients list, its primary ingredient is not meat, it is meal. Other brands, such as Harmony
Farms, contain meat as the primary. Nevertheless, chicken meal is ok, but this brand would be even better if it was followed in volume content by a meat meal and it is not -- the 2nd ingredient is ground corn. This can provide some protein but its not easily digestable, and really doesnt have much place in a cats diet, especially as one of the main ingredients. The third ingredient is lamb meal, and this lends to its protein content of 32% (this is good, with top brands reaching around 35 - 40% protein content), placing this brand as good (but not great) quality; i would not call it a "premium brand" like some of the others available. I would use it if i could get it at a fair discount to the better brands, but its price / performance ratio really isnt that great either at $2 / lb, only slightly less than several premium competitors.
