(More customer reviews)i have 5 cats that drink from the foutain. i put ice cubes into the bowl to chill the water and to watch them play with the cubes. at first, changing filters every week or 2 weeks got expensive and adds to the landfill. however, i experimented with opening them up. i lightly squeeze them in a vice. then i split them apart with a small screwdriver. i cut filters from "filter cloth" pads available at fish/pet stores. i replace the charcoal, also from pet stores. (plain charcoal, not mixed with ammonia remover) i rinse as instructed and have had no problems. i change them more frequently now. i used original drinkwell 360 filters. i can make a video showing my process if someone needs help. hope this works for someone else.
