Cat Mate C20 Feeder Review

Cat Mate C20 Feeder

This unit is made in England and significantly better quality than otherwise available in US stores. We originally bought two almost 9 years ago but one finally failed about a year ago (at the hinge mechanism that releases the food). Bought another 'similar' unit at PetSmart as a replacement that lasted 1 year. Now recently purchased the Cat Mate again and expect another 9+ years of use (the Cat Mate purchased 9 years ago is still going strong!).
Runs on AA batteries so a snap to use. Food plates lift out for cleaning. There are other units that have similar names but this review pertains to the Cat Mate C20. If it doesn't say 'Made in England' on the bottom of the unit I would send/take it back...
Have read reports that hungry cats can get into these units. I have two cats - one of which is a 15 pound male with claws who is always ready for food! - and have never had this happen. Maybe my cats are better behaved but the sofa would say otherwise...

Cat Mate C50 Feeder Review

I've been using this product for almost a year. My cat is very food obsessed. Before getting this, he would meow at me and bug me to feed him all of the time. Now, he just continues to paw at the magical giver of food close to meal times. Since the feeding times are consistent, he has a pretty good idea of when it will turn. Originally he pawed at it obsessively all day until he figured that out. He has never once managed to open it despite trying *very* hard. He can spin it backward to the empty compartments, but it never deprives him of his future meals when the time arrives. When it gets very close to meal time, he is often able to push it open to the next slot, but this is only possible about 15-30 minutes before the scheduled time.
I would urge anyone who gets this to read the directions carefully and completely. When I first read them, it seemed complicated, but once you understand how it works, it's a breeze. I would also encourage people to use it for awhile in a supervised capacity before relying on it to work while you are away for an extended period. I use mine all of the time, so I have confidence that it is set correctly when I will be out late or am away over night. The battery life also seems very good. I usually change it before vacations for my own peace of mind, but it has never actually gone dead in regular use.
This is a very useful product that ensures my cat gets consistent regular meals, despite the twists and turns of my daily life. It has been a dream separating me from the food in my cat's mind.

My "herd" wasn't half as interested in eating these as they were playing with them. They would put them in their mouths, but would proceed to spit them out and swat them. Go figure. Maybe someone else will have a more productive result.

Ergo Outdoor Pet/Pond Feeder, Medium Review

Ergo Outdoor Pet/Pond Feeder, Medium

I have been using this product for the past month to feed stray cats in my neighborhood when I am not home. Although I thought it was a little expensive when I bought it, I think the quality is well worth the price. Mounting was a little more difficult then I thought it had to be, but there were good directions. The step by step directions for the timer made it easy to program. I had concerns that the feeder could jam when I was away for a long weekends, so i have keep it on constantly for testing. Two mechanisms in the feeder, a auger and rotating spring have keep the food flowing right down to all most the very end. In an age were quality of products is sacrificed for cost nice to see a well made product.

UZO1 TOUCHLESS SENSOR OPERATED KITTY DISH WITH AUTOMATIC OPENING LID Review

UZO1 TOUCHLESS SENSOR OPERATED KITTY DISH WITH AUTOMATIC OPENING LID
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have two Jack Russells, one old, Ralph, and one younger and smaller, Casey. Our problem was that the older one always stole the Casey's food.
We discovered one day that simply putting a paper plate on top of little Casey's bowl was enough to keep Ralph out. He wouldn't knock it off, but Casey had no trouble doing that when he was ready to eat (he's more of a grazer/nosher). After a while, we got sick of the paper plate thing and that's when I happened to see this automatic sensor feeder.
I ordered it on-line here in Australia, and was surprised at how small it was when it came (but it is intended for cats, after all - there is a larger one for dogs which doesn't have pictures of fish and cats on it).
Filling this feeder once a day with food (the lid is domed so you can heap it) is enough food for our little Casey (who is actually a Jack Russell/Chihuahua cross, about cat-size). It should certainly be adequate for a cat. If it's not, then you're probably overfeeding it.
I can't see any concern for the health aspects mentioned by another reviewer regarding the materials - it has a stainless steel insert bowl, and that's what the food sits in.
The sensor has two settings for sensitivity, but I can't say I noticed any real difference in the settings. Every month or so I wipe the sensors on the front of the bowl with a damp tissue so that they perform at their best. And don't push it right up against a wall, as it needs room to open.
We moved it around when we first got it, to find the best place, light-wise, for the sensors to work. It works beautifully.
It took a few seconds for Casey to work out how to open the bowl. It was funny, initially, (hilarious, actually!) watching his reaction to when it closed, but he got the hang of it right away. And if, like many dogs, your dog grabs a mouthful and steps back to chew it, the lid will close. But all he does is put his nose up to the sensor and it opens again. This occurs several times during a feeding and he knows the drill well (if only he'd stay still and eat!). Meanwhile, our other JRT is a big 'fraidy cat and won't go near anything that appears to move by itself, so it continues the tradition of the paper plate by keeping him out of Casey's food.
The seller from whom I purchased this bowl doesn't seem to have any left, and I'm trying desperately to find another seller in Australia from whom I can purchase a backup. We've had it for about 8 months now, and I have no idea how long these things last but I like it so much I don't want to be without one. It has really solved a problem for us.
