(More customer reviews)I purchased this product for use in a new automated litter box Petsafe Simply Clean Continuous-Clean Litter Box. I was concerned that the product I was using in a regular litter box might not clump hard enough because of the way the Petsafe Simply Clean operates. The Super Scoop was an excellent choice.
To begin, the Arm & Hammer Super Scoop is unsceneted which is a pleasant change from scented litters which usually smell almost as bad as cat box odor. I detected no litter odor at all when pouring it into the pan. However, it is not dust free although not as dusty as some. There wasn't a cloud of dust when pouring into the pan but there was enough to be noticed. Pouring slowly from a low height would minimize dust when filling a pan. Normal use by the cats doesn't seem to raise noticable dust although there will always be some. With 2 cats and 3 dogs in Kansas who have 24/7 access to the outside, having some dust in my house is normal.
The litter clumps solidly enough to work well with the automated box. To check, I scooped some waste and bounced it on the scoop a few times to see if it would fall apart which it did not. For the first week I checked the box periodically to see if any clumps had broken down and fallen back into the box while in the process of being transported to the holding container. I found no pieces at any time. Based on my tests I think this litter would work well in any automated box requiring clumping litter or to scoop manually.
Odor control is one of the more important processes in any cat little. The Super Scoop product excelled. The only time there was any oder was during the actual time the cats would defecate. As soon as the feces was covered, the oder dissipated. Since the Petsafe Simply Clean box transports waste on a covered conveyor, there is some chance for odor to escape but I have not found that to be a problem. When emptying the covered container there is no fecal or ammonia odor which to me means odor control is exceptionally good.
The Arm and Hammer Multi Cat Arm and Hammer Clumping Cat Litter, Multi-Cat Strength, 14 Pound Box is supposed to have even better odor control in multiple cat households but with 2 cats, but the regular Super Scoop, combined with the Petsafe automated litter box, performed very, very well.
